Just some chracter concept sketches for my Avatar: tLA fanfic. My gang of misfits has gone from five bender girls to twelve much more interesting designs. :3

The story centers around the girls in the first row, if you are interested here is their backstory.

Backstory: Even before Fire Lord Ozai married Ursa she had a deep emotional connection with Iroh. (Since Iroh's wife is never metioned I'm assuming that she died when Lu Ten was young)
They kept their reationship secret and even though they only had one intimate night togther fate felt it was necessary to bless them with three adorable identical love children.
The girls spent their youngest years believing Ozai was their father until they reached seven when their mother finally told them the truth. Within the royal family only Ursa, Iroh, and Lu Ten knew the truth.
Ozai had his suspicious but was blinded with pride over their bending skills. When Ursa vanished from the Fire Nation she helped her daughters escape into the Earth Kingdom where they eventually went their seperate ways. As far as Ozai knows they are dead because he did not find them when he captured Ursa.

In the first row we have:

Hanabi (Fireworks)
Title: Fire Princess
Age: 15ish (she was born 7 minutes ahead of Unmei and born a year before Azula)
Power: Firebending (is very good at starting fires but has trouble putting them out)
Weapons: Fireswords (simply sword handles she uses to form blades of fire)
Hair: Dark brown hair (has the same bangs as her sisters but wears the rest of her hair in a braid)
Eyes: Gold
Skintone: Pale
Height: Short (like her father)
Occupation: Freedom fighter (until she is found out to be a firebender)
Previous location: Omashu (before it was taken over)
Nemesis: Azula (even though she doesn't that she is really Iroh's daughter)
Pet: Turtle duck (named Ursa after her mother)
Favorite tea: Jasmine
Personality: Is one of the most vicious firebenders ever born which is why she was one of Ozai's favorites. However when she was forced out into the real world she had to learn to conceal her true nature to protect herself. She is more likely to act calm around her sisters unless they are in danger.

Unmei (Destiny)
Title: Fire Princess
Age: 15ish (she was born 5 minutes ahead of Kaiki and born a year before Azula)
Power: Lightningbending (refers to it as thunderbending but can also firebend quite well)
Weapons: Naginata (staff with a small katana like blade at the endcan be used to conduct electricity)
Hair: Dark brown hair (has the same bangs as her sisters but wears the rest of her hair in a low ponytail)
Eyes: Gold
Skintone: Pale
Height: Short (like her father)
Occupation: Desert traveler (spent some time at the hidden library before the gAang visited)
Previous location: Desret of the Dead (before the gAang visits)
Nemesis: Sokka (but not really she just likes to make him mad)
Pet: Shirshu (named Hoippu)
Favorite tea: Oolong
Personality: Before abandoning her homeland she was a great lightningbender and another favorite of Ozai. She also had to conceal her ability to hide her true identity. She is more unlikely to act impulsively and think things trough instead of jumping to conclusions. She is very protective of her sisters.

Kaiki (Total Eclipse)
Title: Fire Princess
Age: 15ish (born a year before Azula)
Power: Firebending (unlike her sisters she had trouble making fires but once they are started she can control them with ease)
Weapons: Kama (two small scythes that are traditionally farming tools)
Hair: Dark brown hair (has the same bangs as her sisters but wears the rest of her hair loose with high buns)
Eyes: Gold
Skintone: Pale
Height: Short (like her father)
Occupation: Wandering healer (she uses home remedies and medicinal practices to heal people)
Previous location: Froggy Swamp (before the gAang and met her water/plant bending friend there)
Nemesis: Katara (she just doesn't like her)
Pet: Tiger panda (named Lu Ten after her half brother)
Favorite tea: Ginseng
Personality: Out of the three she is the most like Iroh with a more laid back and easygoing personality. At first Ozai was unimpressed with her fear of her own powers but changed his mind when he witnessed her control after she calmed down. She is more likely to let things fall into place than force things and acts less imuplsively than Hanabi but more carefree than Unmei.

Personality: Even though his tribe is familiar with what is happening in the rest of the world he is unaccustomed to its modern ways. He often has to rely on his friends to understand simple situations and is often confused. Dispite his peaceful lifestyle he will not turn away from a fight and will camly take care of business.

Hair: Dark brown (hidden under wraps)

Height: Slightly taller than Zuko.
Occupation: Desert traveler
Previous location: Desert of the Dead (before the gAang visits; along with Unmei)
Nemesis:
Pet: Toucan puffin (named )
Personality: Coming from the Si Wong Desert's Sandbending tribe, he was the one who offered to help Unmei locate the Library (for money). Doesn't speak much, but has a wide knowledge of things (mostly Earthbending and nature related). Dislikes actual Earthbending saying that it's too solid for use. Wears the traditional Sandbender's clothing, regardless of surroundings. Keeps himself distant from others, but shows more protection and loyalty to those he's known longer, and who pays him.

Pet:
Personality: Born into a very prominent Fire Nation family of all benders without bending capabilities he was always an outcast. He is also one of the only people outside of the royal family who knows the girl's secret and is their friend because of this. After they abruptly leaves one day he is unconvinced that they are dead and seeks them out when he is kicked out of the Fire Nation navy. Even without bending powers he is quite formidable with a large axe and his brute strength.
