Ok, so this is a tutorial on how I make fantasy clothes for my characters. But I'm not sure if I pulled it off. I have a very difficult time explaining my design process.
So in case it doesn't help here are so tips that might: Before I even think about pixeling an outfit I sketch it out on paper first. It helps solidify the design and helps figure out problems before you get to the real piece. Use references! For me I have a folder full of art from all kinds of places and styles that I draw inspiration from. Basically if you see something that you like you can use in your design. When in doubt stick to what you know. If you are comfortable with a certain style then use it but never fear the need to innovate. Try to keep in mind who will be wearing the outfit and try to suit it to their needs and personal taste.
Also, I hope to get a mini companion tuto just on clothing colors done tomorrow...anything in particular you want me to cover in that?
And if I missed anything that you really need to know about just note me and I'll try to explain it to you. I'm sorry if this tuto isn't helpful. ;A;
Bri, I love you for this. ;o; This is so ubber helpful! I never even thought about deciding on culture before designing. Gah you blind me with your amazingness! D:
Aww, you're welcome Karen! <33 I'm just happy you can understand all my babbling I ended up having a difficult time explaining my design process. I usually choose a culture because I'm so easily inspired by them but you don't have too sometimes it can constrict your design in the end. And thank you I'm just glad I could help designing clothes is one of my favorite things to do. My notebooks are filled with various outfit scraps.
I'm really just glad you shared this with us because designing outfits is one of my weak points. You really are amazing at what you do! Hopefully one day I can at least come close to you in awesomeness. XD♥
I'm glad I did it too because it was a bit of a challenge for me to explain but it made me realize my own process. And you are being ridiculous! I absolutely love your outfit designs!
I seem to have a habit of picking light colors for my clothes
I'd do a flaming color but can't never seem to shade it to where it looks more flame like o-o
Think I need a good flame pallete o-o if I can find one lol
And lol, I tend to go for bright colors more than anything just because I like everything colorful.
Yeah, flames are a bit difficult sometimes. What exactly are you trying to shade that color maybe I can help.
